Behind The Lens

Location

Hello there! This is a picture of my Brother-in-law, Kyle, throwing his daughter, Kyler, up in the air at one of our many family gatherings this past summer.

Time

This was taken about 4pm on a really warm Sunday afternoon.

Lighting

It's just natural lighting. It was a very bright sunny summer day.

Equipment

I used my Canon T2i with a 50mm lense. no flash and it was hand held.

Inspiration

I love taking pictures of my nieces. They are definitely my muses. Every time I get a chance to see them I always bring my camera just in case there is a photo opportunity. I saw Kyle throwing Kyler up into the air so I immediately rushed over to see what I can get. Not only is this photo just a fun picture that really captures the element of play, but it's a great representation of their relationship. Kyle is always encouraging his daughters to go out on their own and take risks yet he is always there to catch the if the fall.

Editing

I did very little to the picture in post. Just in my standard photo editor that came with my laptop I just brightened up the image a bit and then made the colors more bold.

In my camera bag

I usually just carry my Canon camera with an extra battery.

Feedback

Take many pictures! Hopefully one will come out. Also, make sure you are on the 'continuous' setting that will allow you to take many pictures in a short amount of time. This was on the 'sports' setting so it was able to capture really clear fast moving images.
