Location
This was taken in our side garden. We were having a bit of fun. I often times set up shots like this as I enjoy it immensely. I was trying out my claymore and asked my wife to pick up the camera on the setting I had it ready set on and snap a few shots just for fun.I don't usually enjoy using a tripod. So much more fluidity can happen with a hand held camera that you never counted on.Time
I believe this was shot mid day on a torrid hot August day. It was the middle of a dry spell.Lighting
The light was coming directly from behind me, so I tried to set the shot up with the 400 year old oak across the street behind me and my gate in hopes it would block some of the intense light of the sun, which it did.Equipment
Canon Power Shot SX50HSInspiration
My love of history. That and highland ancestors. And teasing from mates who keep telling me I now look like a cross between Sean Connery and Billy Connolly.I have studied Scot history, especially the Jacobite failed risings as well.Editing
Not normally. Mostly I set my camera according to light situations and go with what I deem to be the best setting. In my camera bag
With my old camera before digital I used to pack a long range lense. But with this one I just use it as it came, plus a few things for cleaning the lens and two tripods. Most of my photos are taken by hand though, except in self portraits like this one.Feedback
Depending on what I'm looking for; I try to center objects in perspective to what I am aiming for. Light can change in an instant due to a passing cloud so patience is a virtue and sometimes a good stool to sit on. Comfort is important and a willing desire to wait for the right light you want for your shot.
