Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken in Hauz Khas village. Being a self-taught photographer, I like to experiment and learn new aspects with each shot.

Time

The photo was taken during evening.

Lighting

Evening sunset light was the only lighting involved. No additional artificial lighting has been incorporated. The soft sunset reflecting from the water surface is creating the drama.

Equipment

The photo was shot using a Nikon D90 camera with a standard 18-105mm lens. No additional equipment was used.

Inspiration

I usually go to Hauz Khas village to visit the Hauz Khas lake for bird watching. I like to take bird photographs for documentation and identification purposes. During one such evening trip, I happened to notice the wonderful sunset and so I tried taking a few shots of the light reflecting form the water. Being an enthusiastic Physics student, I am always curious about reflections!

Editing

I have not used any post processing. I am an amateur photographer and do not much about post processing (apart from standard cropping and rotating). However, I would be interested in learning more about it in the future.

In my camera bag

I carry my Nikon D90 camera along with 18-105mm lens which came along with it. I currently do not possess any other lens, although I am open to suggestions regarding lenses for bird photography.

Feedback

Always look for reflections, especially from water. You may find something interesting after experimenting a bit.
