Location
I took this photo in New York, New York! I had been looking for this exact spot for a couple of hours!Time
Unfortunately, my time in New York was very limited and I had to make the best of a narrow time frame! I was lucky enough to get some shadow on the road from the building on my left side!Lighting
Unfortunately my time was limited in New York so sometimes you just have to go with what you get!Equipment
I used a Nikon D800 for this image! No tripod or flash and I had my trusty 28-300 mm lens. I hardly ever take this lens off! Love it!Inspiration
I have seen several images from this location but if the truth be told, my inspiration came from the movie “Once Upon a Time in America” there is a scene where a group of kids run across the field of view from left to right and I have always loved that scene! Very soon after the scene, one of the kids is shot in the back and he says the immortal line (at least in my house), “Noodles, I slipped”. The adult Noodles was played by Robert DeNiro.Editing
I tried to emphasize the Empire State Building in the center of the image which is framed by the structure of the Manhattan Bridge! In my camera bag
I usually have just a couple of lenses as they get heavy! You all know!Feedback
Sometimes you just get lucky! If you have an image in mind that you want to get, just go and get it! I travelled from Oregon to spend a few days in New York and I didn’t plan on the Empire State Building being a part of the image until I saw it! I walked all over Brooklyn but I didn’t know the name of the bridge until I spoke with a cabbie who took me straight here and told me to get out and get my shot! He held up traffic for about two minutes while I got my shot! I love New York! and That cabbie got a great tip that day! I hope you all like this image as much as I enjoyed taking it!
