Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in Kuala Lumpur Bird Park, Malaysia. I was there on a day trip with my husband and my then 6 year daughter.

Time

It was late afternoon. Must have been 3 pm or so.

Lighting

I was lucky that we were in a spot shaded by trees. The resulting light was not harsh, as one would expect a tropical summer afternoon light to be!

Equipment

My trusty Nikon D3000 with 55-200 lens. Nothing else. It was handheld and I went trigger happy.

Inspiration

We'd walked around the park for two hours at least and our feet were complaining a bit. My 6 year old had lost interest in the birds and was more interested in the ice cream cones than the birds by this point. We sat down by the pond as she enjoyed her ice cream and realised that a bunch of free roaming birds appeared. While the peacock was the crowd puller, I was drawn to the sharp gaze of these birds.

Editing

This photo was not post processed at all. I was quite happy with the way it turned out.

In my camera bag

My Nikon D3000 with kit lens and an additional 55-200 lens. I also have 2 extra batteries that come in real handy during sight seeing.
