Behind The Lens

Location

I was on a family vacation to Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia and we had spent the entire day roaming around the city in an open topped bus. Our last stop was the Petronas tower and we waited close to an hour in a traffic jam to get to it. The sight of the twin towers lit up in all their glory was totally worth the wait though!

Time

This picture was shot late in the evening, standing right underneath the Petronas twin towers.

Lighting

The Petronas Twin towers are a modern day architecture icon with the special lighting that make it glow. I did not have to do anything. Just pull out my camera and shoot.

Equipment

This picture was a spur of the moment capture taken atop an open top bus. Since I had to exit the bus quickly, I had only moments to capture the view. I used my iPhone 6s to click it!

Inspiration

While I was atop the open top bus, the sight of the petronas tower was beautiful. I was inspired by the elevation and realised that the shot would be much better than if I was standing on the ground level.

Editing

Nope! I just cropped it a little :)

In my camera bag

My iphone 6s is always in my hand to capture spur of the moment pictures.. like this one! My camera bag though has my trusty old Nikon D3000 DSLR with an 18-55mm lens and another 55-200mm one for mid to long range shots. I carry two spare batteries and extra memory cards.

Feedback

I would encourage others to go for asymmetric views. trying to capture the perfect symmetry takes time and a lot of effort. As a tourist on a city tour timing is critical so keep a phone camera handy and snap away even if you don't think that the composition is perfect.
