Plants Vs Zombies had a real effect on my gardening choices this year.

Behind The Lens

Location

Two years ago I planted sunflowers in my garden due to a little obsession with a game called Plants vs Zombies. This was the tallest sunflowers of the bunch.

Time

This photo was taken in the middle of August around 5:00pm on a clear day.

Lighting

I simply allowed the sun to do it's job.

Equipment

Strangely enough, this was shot on my Droid Maxx 2.

Inspiration

I love photographing flowers and these were a special project this season. I was determined to grow sunflowers this year and was so pleased at how beautiful they were.

Editing

No, this photo was not post-processed at all.

In my camera bag

I always carry my Canon Rebel XSI, the standard 18-24mm lens, a zoom lens that maxes at 700mm, two different flash attachments, and my light meter.

Feedback

I find that composition is so important when photographing flowers. They are such an overly-photographed subject, I feel the best way to mix it up and keep it interesting with flowers is by exploring different compositions and playing with the rule of thirds.
