Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in a small village in Southern Sweden just west of Vesteräs

Time

It was taken around lunchtime.

Lighting

With the lighting coming from the left of scene, the colour of the trees is really emphasised giving the reflection in the water more impact.

Equipment

Taken with a Nikon D750 and a Nikon 24-120mm F4 lens.

Inspiration

I wanted a picture to be able to sum up the life of the countryside around this area.

Editing

Post processing included increasing sharpness and contrast, and darkening the highlights to bring back detail in the sky. The colour of the foliage was altered from green to yellow and orange to give the impression of Fall instead of Summer.

In my camera bag

A Nikon D750 with various lenses which j use for landscape photography. A Fujifim XT-1 with 16-55 f2.8 for photographing my kids and for when I don't want to carry a big DSLR around. A tripod and remote shutter release, which are vital for landscapes and nightscapes. Also a variety of filters.

Feedback

Practice practice practice! Find out what works, and what doesn't. Try to imagine what you want to shoot, and learn what works in composition and why. People take great photos with the camera on a phone, composition is the key to what makes a normal photo a great photo.
