Behind The Lens
Location
At a private cat sanctuary in McKinney Texas. She was one three big cats left, two female Tigers and a Lioness. Sheba just spotted a bird in the shadows and was stalking it.Time
It was in a late evening in November around 9:35 the enclosure was well shaded with trees and tall grasses and the park lights were on but were subdued by the bright November Moon and the crisp light of the cool evening.Lighting
The light had a earth from theEquipment
Hand held Nikon D700 with a Nikon 70-200 mm Nikkor lens. no flash.Inspiration
It was on of the first times where Sheba actually was coming towards me and her intense focus once she locked on to her potential prey made me want to capture the moment.Editing
I added a warmer tone to the image and a vignette cropped the image tighter to make Sheba the main focus and not her in surroundings. oIn my camera bag
Nikon D800, Nikon Nikkor lenses 24-70mm and a 70-200mm, also a Nikon 2x converter, various CF cards ranging from 4gig to 32 gig capacity, a B&W 77mm polarizing filter and an extra camera batteryFeedback
No matter what your shooting always try to invasion the image in your mind. Be calm and patient, especially when shooting animals or kids for they are always unpredictable. But be ready for the unexpected. Lastly take time to enjoy the subject without the camera so you can learn about your subject, which will help you to capture those great moments when they present themselves.
