Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken at the Lancaster County Central Park in the Garden of Five Senses. This is right in the city of Lancaster, Pa. USA

Time

This image was taken at approximately 9:30 AM.

Lighting

I wanted a soft light look, so I used a diffuser to soften the sunlight.

Equipment

Camera was a Nikon D3300 Tripod was a Seuri the lens was the nikon "kit" lens (18-55mm) No flash and a bit of water was sprayed on the flower to add the water drops.

Inspiration

I always strive to make better images than I did before. Flowers are a fairly easy subject when compared to wildlife as they do not run away. I view others perspectives to get ideas and to figure ways to implement variations of those ideas into my images.

Editing

At that point I was fairly new to post processing so there was a minimal amount of processing done with Photoshop Elements.

In my camera bag

The first thing in my bag was my handy Nikon D3300 along with both of my kit lenses (70-300mm and 18-55mm) my sturdy tripod, reflectors and diffusers (all DIY stuff) a water spray bottle with water and flash (just in case)

Feedback

Read all that you can, watch videos and try to soak up as much information as you can. Look at 1000's of photos of flowers and above all try to impliment your own style on each photo that you make. I try to remember that a good photo is taken, but a great photo is made. Also remember that not everything in nature is perfect, so try to look for flowers without flaws but realize that is next to impossible to find. Keep practicing and you will get better. I am never "there' but I keep trying.
