Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo while me and my sister were on vacation in Toronto, Ontario. We wanted to check out the Distillery District because I love old architecture mixed with new shops. It's really a wonderful hub of activity down there.

Time

The time of day was around 2:00pm.

Lighting

I used just the natural light in the area as it was a glorious sunny day.

Equipment

I was using my IPhone 6 Plus that day. My camera bag can be kind of bulky and we were doing a full day of sightseeing.

Inspiration

I love old architecture and with the old rusty truck in front of the red brick wall the colours just popped for me.

Editing

I used Lightroom to tweak the red tones of the photo.

In my camera bag

I usually use my canon 6ti with an external flash and a variety of different lenses depending on what I'm shooting. I am kind of addicted to buying gear but what photographer isn't!

Feedback

There is beauty all around us and I love taking photos that speak to me. Using an creative eye to make something normal stand out. I would say if it speaks to you then snap a photo! Contrast is a big one for me, striking colours really catch my eye. I would say if your looking to capture something similar go to the places you know that these things will be at. Do a little research see what's in the area that you are visiting or where you live and get out and explore. Some of my best photos come from just getting lost and taking everything in. Get out of your comfort zone a little and see what kind of inspiration you can find. There's something for everyone out there add a little adventure and see where it takes you!
