We've all seen the Milky Way arch, a common way to capture the entire view of our galaxy from earth. On this night, however, I decided to try something different.
I've always wanted to do a vertical panorama. I've always felt that horizontal panoramas give a sense of the vast and wide expanse, while vertical panoramas gives a sense of scale.
On this night, I waited for the Milky Way to rise nearly overhead. This vertical panorama is a combination of about 40 images.
The process of capturing a vertical panorama on the Gigapan Epic Pro seems to be more challenging than a horizontal or 360 panoramas. In fact, capturing a 360 degree pano and later extracting the vertical panorama would be much quicker and easier.
