Location
This shot was taken in kepulauan riau, tanjung batu kundur. A small island in Indonesia very much of the tourist route. "Batu" meaning rock in Indonesian the only information I had on the island is the coast is surrounded with large boulder like rocks and some killer sunsets!Time
Mid sunsetLighting
All natural light.Equipment
This photo was taken with a Nikon D7100 with a samyang 12mm lense, handheld.Inspiration
Me and my partner arrived at the beach midsunset moments before this shot. The beach was empty except some fisherman returning from a day's catch. Climbing over the boulder's was this tree, perched on the end of the rocks, surrounded by the sea in solitude. An almost bonsai looking specimine seemingly growing straight out from the rocks. One of those photos which I feel captured that moment the way it felt. A moment full of emotion.Editing
Shooting straight into the sun gave me to much contrast to capture in a single shot so I blended three images to capture some more detail in the shadows, That way I don't need to push it to much in post processing. After that it was just simple ajustments made in lightroom. I use lightroom for 90percent of what I do.In my camera bag
I travel with a Nikon d7100 and a Sony A6000. A samyang 12mm with an adaptor so can be used on both bodies. a nikkor 35mm and a Nikkor 55-300mm. And a tripod for those clear nights.Feedback
Just try and capture the moment how you perceive it. I feel if I can capture how it felt to be there, the colours, the days journey leading up to the photo, the place, the smells, if a photo creates a story and for me personally holds a lot of memories I feel happy with it.
