Location
I took this photo in Charleston, SC in the United States. It was outside and very dark. The waxing gibbous moon was obvious in the sky and the craters on the moon were clear.Time
It was at night around 9:00 pm. I remembered I had wanted to take pictures of the moon so I went outside to see what the moon looked like. I got my camera and took the photo.Lighting
I wanted to make the background black like the sky was so I zoomed in on the moon and upped the aperture.Equipment
I used my Canon Powershot camera. I did not use flash or a tripod to take the photograph.Inspiration
I had wanted to take a photo of the moon because, unlike the sun, you can see its shape and color easily.Editing
I did not do and post-processing because I thought the photograph was well done how it was. Also because the moon is natural, I wanted the picture to represent the photograph well and did not edit it.In my camera bag
I usually have my Canon Powershot and my battery charger. I don't often carry around anything else and like going with a lot of weight.Feedback
I realized after I took this photo that if you position yourself to have a silhouette of something (a tree, a person, an animal...) in front of the moon, it could do wonders for the photo. Of course, if you want the moon to be easily depicted and have the shapes of the moon clear, it would be better if you just took a photo of the moon alone. I zoomed in on the moon and it was hard to hold the camera steady. If I did it again, I would probably use a tripod to help.
