Location
This photo was taken in by backyard in June 2016. I love taking macro shots and my best shots have been made either at home or in my backyard.Time
This is one of the most successful macro shots of mine. It is a challenging task - to shoot bees and flies through an extension tube. I was in the proper mood, full of patience and eventually managed to make a few nice shots. This picture was taken on June 5th, 2016 at 11:54 a.m.Lighting
I only used natural light when taking this shot. As the weather was cloudy that day, I had to put ISO on 800 to compensate light.Equipment
This was shot on Canon EOS 550D with 50 mm 1.8 Canon lens and the extension tube.Inspiration
I enjoy taking macro shots, and it never becomes boring for me. I am always in extreme curiosity of what my final shots are going to look like. And this picture was not an exclusion, as bees and flies are often promising models.Editing
I usually do color correction only, especially in my macro shots. This picture was taken in RAW; I reduced noise, adjusted shadows and highlights and played with color saturation a little bit.In my camera bag
I always carry pretty much all of my equipment (except my film cameras) in my backpack. That includes my Canon 550D camera, my 3 lenses (Canon 18-135 mm 3.5-5.6, Canon 50 mm 1.8, Helios 50 mm 1.8), extension tube, long exposure cable shutter, my Godox flash, spare accumulator for my camera and some minor accessories. Moreover, the tripod and the reflector set are always in my trunk.Feedback
I think that the most distinctive feature to have when making a close-ups of insects and bugs is obviously the Patience. It may possibly take up to dozens or even hundreds of attempts if you are trying to do a really special and unique macro shot. And, obviously, you must know your equipment very well.
