Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken near Rakari resort in Salacgriva, Latvia. I was actually standing on the log.... trying to capture the moment, all the while balancing and moving further.

Time

22:16. June 2, 2013.

Lighting

It was getting dark slowly, the sun was burning far far away.

Equipment

I used my old LG cellphone camera. I wasn't using flash or tripod, or anything else. Go figure, this photo is apparently better than some others that I've taken with technically much better cameras...

Inspiration

The atmosphere was unique and at some point I just started making pictures. I was with a friend, we were on the beach, drawing in the sand... Having fun just wandering around. The photo was taken when there was not much left where to go (as it can be seen)... watching the setting sun, the water, clouds and reflections... Somehow, I'm tempted to say "this isn't just another sunset picture" but you should see for yourself :)

Editing

No editing. The only thing I did, was checking if the horizon is horizontal enough.

In my camera bag

It depends. Really. It might be a professional camera for HQ shots, it might be a simple digital camera, or an unpredictable analogue LOMO camera, or... I might have only a phone, like in this case. Sometimes, the view just can't be caught on camera... sometimes, there is no camera... but not everything has to be captured.

Feedback

Move! Look around every now and then. Take your brain, heart, imagination, any equipment and company that you prefer with you... Enjoy.
