This picture was taken at around 6 p.m. in the evening at a local park. It was a planned shoot of this beautiful young dancer.Lighting
I wanted her to look thoughtful so waited until the sun came down a little bit and we shot it as the sun started to set.Equipment
I'm a Canon user through and through!! Some of Nikon guys in my photography club give me a hard time but the rivalry is fun!Inspiration
The dancer herself inspired me to take the picture. Though she looks so grown-up in this picture she is still a child but a very talented young girl. She has been accepted to our local performing arts school in Akron, Ohio and is performing there this fall. She can bounce from looking so adult and fierce to the laughing, smiling of a 12 year old.Editing
The only thing I did in post-processing was darken the red of her costume just a little bit.In my camera bag
My Canon camera and 2 lenses. I'm pretty much of a novice photographer but am learning by leaps and bounds every time I shoot. I try and shoot every weekend so I can learn more about what I'm doing.Feedback
I capture photos that are more candid at the moment than posed. In this photo, I told her just to go sit and reflect for a bit. She is a natural so that part was easy. I love doing candid photos. I love taking people out to photograph and tell them, just talk with one another, laugh, pretend I'm not here. The best shots I've ever taken are the ones that "just happen".
