Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo on a walk down to Ardbeg Distillery, whilst enjoying a mini break with the family staying in the Stormpods located just down the road at Lagavulin bay.

Time

This is obviously one of my favourite photos as well as my best liked photos in Viewbug. My wife and I had just found the geocache near Ardbeg and decided to walk down to the shore front at Ardbeg to take in a glorious sunset when thus view caught me eye. This photo was taken at 18:12 on the 18th July.

Lighting

The lighting of this photo was solely provided by the wonderful Atlantic weather conditions that either bathe or batter Islay. The cloud breaking over head of the bonds building allowed the sun to highlight the painted Ardbeg building superbly and draw your eye into the photo.

Equipment

This was taken on my iPhone 6s. 4.2mm f/2.2 1/2653s ISO 25 AWB

Inspiration

Living on Islay famed for its 8 whisky distilleries, it is hard not the find yourself visiting each distillery on a regular basis. But Ardbeg is my favourite given its open access around the grounds providing wonderful opportunities for those special photographs.

Editing

I did use the Camera + app to achieve my final view. I used the Clarity PRO function to enhance the sunset and highlight the yellow, green and blue tones

In my camera bag

Just my iPhone.

Feedback

Don't be afraid to use your smart phone camera, essentially photography is about capturing what interests you, it could be the sunset on a local landmark or just hanging out with friends. I don't go out looking and waiting for that perfect opportunity as they seldom appear. Just get out there and capture life however it happens.
