Behind The Lens

Location

I caught this picture in Sunnidale Park, in Ontario Canada. Me and my wife were traveling around and stopped in this quite park and the chipmunks were so brave they would come right up to you!

Time

I took this picture around 3pm, me and my wife were just looking for a quite place to sit and relax and we found this nice park.

Lighting

I was lucky with the lighting this day, it had been really bright, too bright really but just as the chipmunks started getting closer the clouds came over and makes shooting in the middle of the day a lot easier!

Equipment

I use a Sony A58, with a 18-55mm kit lens, we bought it for our wedding which we had before we left for traveling.

Inspiration

As we were sat there and they were getting closer and closer we found some nuts and they came right up to us, as it was eating he just stayed there so thought it was the perfect time to capture this picture, especially as i had never seen a chipmunk before.

Editing

I didn't do a lot of post processing, i try too keep it as simple as possible but to make it look how it looked at the time. When I was looking at this picture I loved how dark his eyes were so i upped the contrast just a little to get the detail for his whiskers and fur along with those dark eyes!

In my camera bag

As me and my wife are traveling we don't have a lot, before we left we quit our jobs saved up some money got married and went traveling, so we don't have a lot of equipment. We bought a Sony A58 that came with the 18-55mm lens and the 55-200mm lens. I wish we could have more lenses but we make do with what we have because we don't want to be traveling with too much equipment.

Feedback

When it comes to animals you have to be patient! Really patient. It takes a lot of time and waiting, but when you get a picture that you are really happy with it makes everything worth it!!
