Coming out of Yellowstone during my recent trip I travelled down the Bear Tooth Highway in the middle of the night. I was in awe over the beauty, vastness and awesomeness as I kept going up the mountains. I kept stopping to see what was around and got to see some amazing lookouts, mountains everywhere and the mist sitting so nicely in the valley from what I think was a river below. The wind was brutal but the roads were nothing short of spectacular. I would use my a7s at extremely high ISO's to check my surroundings, hoping I would stumble upon a scene like this. This is a composite image with both images shot at the same location, just minutes apart. Usually I do a longer exposure for the foreground but as the sunrise was coming up soon I waited a little bit longer to shoot the foreground as I was hoping for more mist to come off the river. I used Lightroom to process the images and blended them after with Photoshop. I will be teaching these techniques and many more on a upcoming workshop in Algonquin Provincial Park on August 26-28. There are very limited spaces left so if you are interested please email for more information. Thank you for viewing and feel free to share.
