This photo was a pleasant surprise for me. It was the end of the day and the lighting set its sights on this pack of wolves in Quebec. It shows various personalities of typical family get togethers.Time
I was ready to pack up for the day. The sun was starting to go down, when this opportunity presented itself.Lighting
As most of us do, I prefer early morning and sundown. This day the light somewhat portrayed something magical for me.Equipment
This shot was taken with a Canon 7D, complimented with a 100-400 lens. As it was on the moment, this image was hand held at 400mm, Exposure-1/3000, F 5.6.Inspiration
I guess you can say I have always been fascinated by wolves. The elusiveness of this beautiful animal allows my curiosity to take me on a venture to hopefully capture an image that displays the unique personality of the wolf and all that surrounds this creature.Editing
As a rule, I try to leave the image as raw as possible. In this case, I found that minimal post processing was necessary. In my camera bag
In my bag, I normally carry two Canon cameras. One wide angle, and one telephoto lens, and several filters, depending on lighting. As I normally take wildlife images, I usually depend on the telephoto lens to support my subject. The action shots are the ones I'm after, as in this image.Feedback
I guess my best advice to anyone hoping to capture images similar, is to be true to yourself and the animal you are taking. Be patient, allow yourself to enjoy the moment, without stressing out the animal. The moment will come to you. Let the light show you different angles that you may use as all types of light emphasizes a different personality to your image.Dont rush. Take your time to see what angle best compliments your subject. I think you have to please yourself. It is what you are trying to say in this image. Not the photographer next to you. He might have ideas very different to you. So stay with your plan. There is no right or wrong. It is your image, your idea, your art. It is yours. Now go take some great images!
