I took this photo beside my house It is a sunflower that came up underneath my birdfeederTime
I had just come home from work on a sunny warm day This was the first sunflower that opened this year and I was excited and wanted to capture my excitement with photographyLighting
It had been a sunny warm afternoon and everything was growing in that burst that happens in the spring. Sunflowers always intrigue me because of the way the really reflect the suns energy in so many ways It was bright enough that I could capture a clear close up of the middle of the newly opened flower easilyEquipment
I was using my smartphone which is a six year old Motorola Even though I have upgraded to a DSLR there is still something about the way my phone takes pictures that I really enjoy It seems to capture the simple lines in nature with a simple click and no manipulation of shutter or apetureInspiration
My excitement of spring and growing things This was especially true of this sunflower as I did not plant it and was a product of the birds throwing the seeds around in their feeding frenzyEditing
Very little post processing I used the program that came with my phone to lower the highlights I love the way the green in the centre of the flower showed up brighter in my camera than it did to my eye with no processing at all.In my camera bag
My smartphone is always with me and I also often carry my Pentax K-R with the standard 18-55 lens that came with it and a Pentax 100-300 zoom lens. I am eager to increase my collection by another camera and want to start exploring wide angleFeedback
Notice the little things Try to see something you have looked at often with new eyes Sometimes the small pieces of a planned photo can be just as amazing as the whole. Always having my smartphone on me allows me to capture the moment that may get lost with a change of the clouds or a shift of the light.
