Thank you for the nice comments. I was just lucky. The peacock was between two white buildings at golden hour with filtered light from trees on a hillside acting like a big softbox. I had time to set up my tripod and focus and compose carefully for this almost studio portrait type shot. Truly a once in a lifetime bit of luck

Location
This photo was taken on the island of Roatan, in the country of Honduras. It is one of the "Bay Islands".Time
It was late afternoon, about an hour before sunset- the "Golden Hour"Lighting
This was almost a studio setup. The peacock was between two white walls about 25 feet apart. the light was filtered through some bamboo, and hitting a wall in front of the peacock and then reflecting off the back wall.Equipment
This was taken with a Panasonic Lumix FZ28, a tripod and a UV filter. There was no flash- just available light.Inspiration
This was the best presentation of a peacock tail I have ever seen.Editing
I removed a few stray dust dots and did a slight amount or brightening and Shadow enhancing. For the most part, I just left it alone. In my camera bag
#1 Tripod. everything else is secondary. a Polarizer., a neutral density filter. A timer, TWO spare batteries. A battery charger. lens cloth and lens cleaner solution. a granola bar. a water bottle. All the luck I can find along the way <G>Feedback
