Rhinoceros

The Rhinoceros has a very distinct look to it so that you will never end up mistaking it for another animal. They are very large in size and they have a thick grayish coat on them. There are five species right now but three of them are at a very high risk of becoming extinct. The numbers continue to drop due to humans taking over their environment and hunting them for the horns.

A full grown adult Rhinoceros can weigh more than 1 ton so they are a force to be reckoned with. Their young are from 88 to 140 pounds at birth which is quite large compared to other animal’s offspring. The young grow very fast as that helps to increase their chances of survival.

They don’t have much trouble at all in the wild with other animals. They have been known to kill humans that are hunting them or that simply happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. The Rhinoceros doesn’t have very good vision so that makes it hard for them to distinguish what is out there so they tend to attack for their own protection.

These animals tend to live on their own due to the fact that they are aggressive in nature. The White Rhinoceros species seems to be more social than the others. These animals are protective of their environment and the females are especially protective of their young. After mating they carry the young for a period of time from 14 to 18 months.
