Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in melbourne, it is one of the most busiest railway stations in melbourne, and goes by the name "flinders street". I have always admired beautiful landscapes and this one had been on my list for a long time.

Time

I remember taking this photograph on a chilly morning in melbourne, i can perfectly recall that i had decided a night before that i would travel the main melbourne city and capture the scenic landscapes. It was taken on 11th of July, at 11:00 am.

Lighting

I just love when there are overcast conditions, one can get the camera to do wonders under these conditions, i simply adore the dramatic clouds that were there and for me the lighting was just perfect to click this photograph.

Equipment

This was shot on a canon 60D with 18-55mm lens, and there was no other equipment involved.

Inspiration

Whenever i use to walk by this majestic structure i always saw a beautiful photograph waiting to be captured, on somedays the lighting wouldn't do justice to the frame, and on some days it didn't feel right. But on that day everything was just to the point the lighting, the surroundings, the overcast conditions, dramatic clouds. Without a second thought i just went ahead and clicked it.

Editing

Yes, it is a HDR image, it was created by merging 5 different exposures(-2,-1,01,2).

In my camera bag

I always carry my canon 60D, with a standard 50mm lens, which for me is great for capturing potraits and can do wonders in bad light, then i have a lens that can be used for landscape like 18-55mm.

Feedback

Make sure you take your time to set the frame perfectly, even if you have to wait for people to pass, buses to move etc When you are clicking at different exposures make sure the bracket is good enough to provide you with exceptionally well details of blacks and whites.
