Behind The Lens

Location

I'd never really taken photos of animals until a close friend presented me with a photo safari experience at Woburn Safari Park

Time

The photo was taken mid morning - we were so lucky - the previous day had seen torrential rain - now broken clouds

Lighting

The lighting was good - initially it looked as if we might get blue skies - but then luckily some clouds came over to add some contrast

Equipment

My pride and joy - Canon 5DS R with 70-300mm lens

Inspiration

What can you say - you look for opportunities - think I took some 1500 photos on the day

Editing

Only my second outing with animals and some HDR work was used - in fact quite a bit - and the sky was a nightmare so had to manually blur it My workflow is all iOS based - so use iPad Pro enlight and a couple of other apps

In my camera bag

Spare batteries lol

Feedback

Look for a shot with detail - a clear background to distract as little as possible and if you can - use a camera with as high a resolution as possible - just gives you the flexibility to crop without loosing the detail
