Behind The Lens

Location

This photo was taken in my sister's field in Preston, Maryland. My Dad used to have a large peach and apple farm and after retiring, planted a smaller one so my nephews could learn the trade.

Time

This picture was taken in the afternoon around 2:00 or 3:00 p.m..

Lighting

There was simply natural lighting on the peach trees. I did not add anything to it, just used the natural spring afternoon sunlight.

Equipment

For this shot, I used my Canon EOS Rebel 5 camera with the Zoom lens,

Inspiration

The peach blossoms are always so pretty, but the time they are in bloom is always so fleeting. This year, in particular, was shorter as many buds had early-on been damaged by frost. I had my camera out, taking pictures of our family Easter egg hunt when I realized they were in bloom and I raced to the field to get the shot.

Editing

No, I did not do any post-processing.

In my camera bag

In my bag, I carry my camera with a regular lens, along with a zoom lens. I also have several batteries and memory cards. In addition, I have about 6 different filters that I carry.

Feedback

Take several shots of the same subject. I often get one or two that don't turn out well and usually one that really does, so take plenty, then you will have plenty to choose from. Experiment with focus, flash, filters, etc. so that you will know what to use to get the results you want.
