Behind The Lens

Location

The photo was taken at a Blue Grass Festival in Prescott Arizona.

Time

It was late morning and the day was heating up.....just like the music.

Lighting

The lighting was from the sun. :-)

Equipment

I used a Nikon D7000. No tripod or flash needed. This was a shoot as your walk event.

Inspiration

I 'saw' a gritty character and wanted to capture his hands as he picked at the banjo.

Editing

I converted the color image to Monochrome. There was some distraction in the background so I blurred that to put more focus on the subject. Also sharpened some areas, burned and dodged other areas.

In my camera bag

I usually shoot with my Sony A7II but for this I wanted my Nikon D7000 with the 18-200 Nikon lens.

Feedback

Street photography can be intimidating when there's a person involved. If I can, I ask if it's ok. If it's not possible to ask, as in this case, I ask with my eyes and camera. If they nod yes, like he did here, then I shoot. Sometimes they will nod no and then you have to respect that. A smile goes a long way.
