Behind The Lens

Location

Kauai, Hawaii

Time

Around 6am as the sun was rising.

Lighting

At the time of morning the lighting is so soft and beautiful.

Equipment

Sony a7ll, Zeiss 24-70mm lens, no tripod or flash.

Inspiration

Sunrises on Kauai are so beautiful. Every morning was another spectacular sight. I wanted some foreground and found, to my delight, some branches on the beach. They lined up perfectly to the rising sun and I thought would make a nice 'frame' for the rising sun.

Editing

Lightroom is usually my first stop. Lightened the shadows. Cloned out some spots on my sensor in Photoshop.

In my camera bag

Sony a7ll, Zeiss 24-70 lens, extra battery and memory cards. Circular polarizer, UV filter. Lens cleaning cloths. Camera manual, band-aids (don't laugh, they've come in handy) my point and shoot camera - Canon S90.

Feedback

Fly to Kauai and wake every morning for the sunrise. I believe something in the foreground of any 'scape', landscape, seascape,cityscape, adds to the interest.
