Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo in the balcony of my apartment in Brussels, Belgium. The flower is a salmon colored geranium hanging in a pot from the railing of the balcony.

Time

It was some time in the month of June of 2016. During this time of the year, Brussels sees longest days of the year. This photo was shot at around 10 PM at night. I remember there was an evening shower and just before sunset, the sky cleared up. The color of the sky was so amazing that I took out my camera and started taking photos from my balcony. Then I composed this shot from a low angle keeping the multiple hued golden orange sky in the background. I found a perfect "Golden Hour" in that moment.

Lighting

It was a perfect Golden Hour. Everything looks beautiful with the light from the setting sun. However, I changed my white balance to suit the situation.

Equipment

It was shot with Canon 7D, with a 24-70mm lens. I did not use any other equipment.

Inspiration

I was following some blogs about Golden Hour photography. That day I got the opportunity to take a photo myself.

Editing

No, I did not do any post processing apart from putting my watermark in the photo.

In my camera bag

I have a Canon 7D with a 24-70 mm f3.5 to f5.6. I also carry one 18-55mm lens.

Feedback

It requires perfect timing and patience to get a perfect shot. It is advisable to start clicking even if the light seems not perfect in naked eye.
