Breathtakingly beautiful! Superb composition and I especially love the different textures. Truly a "WOW!" photograph.

Location
I took this picture during my last visit in Iceland in january 2016.Time
It was about 11 o'clock. The sun rises in winter very late in the northern regions of the world.Lighting
The rising sun does what she should do. The sun was in my back and so I got a nice glow on the mountains in front. The snow, ice and sand dunes made this scene so beautiful. I got perfect conditions there.Equipment
I used a Canon 5DS R with a Canon 16-35mm, F4.0, L IS lens a gradient filter and a tripod.Inspiration
There are a lot pictures from Stoksness area with Vestrahorn in the back. Depending on the weather conditions the pictures always looks completly different. I was lucky to get really good conditions. Nearly no wind, frozen sand, ripples in the sand, not footprints ;) and some small clouds during the sunrise. It was nearly perfect!Editing
Yes of course there is a little post-processing on that picture. I imported the picture to Lighroom CC and did some adjustments: I put the color temperature to the correct one. I put a small vignette on the image and light up the shadows a little bit. I used clarity in the foreground. That's it!In my camera bag
My Camera and a backup, one or 2 different wide angel lenses, filters, tripod, tele lens, memory cards.Feedback
First of all it is necessary to get in contact with the area you want to shoot. Where is the spot where you want to take the picture? Is there an example and you want to to something compareable?. Be prepared for the weather and the wind conditions. Check the sunrise and sunset time and direction. If you do so you are good prepared for the most sitiuations in the field.
