Behind The Lens

Location

This picture was taken nearby where i live. I have seen out foregrounds that i think makes good sunset pictures, and therefore i chose this one that day.

Time

This was late one evening, i had just spent the day celebrating my dad and aunt's birthday. So i think the ending of the day could not be more perfect! I have a passion for sunset's.The picture was taken on 17 june, and the time was around 2200.

Lighting

Since it was good light outside i did not use anything extra.

Equipment

This picture was taken with a Nikon D3200. I had just reseved a new lens that day, and silly me, i had bout a Macro zoom lens, but i meant to by a regular zoom lens. Since i'am pretty new at this, i use that as an excuse ;) So i decided to try it out that night.

Inspiration

What inspired me to take this picture was that i have a passion for sunset's and i think cityscapes are great for just that. And i really love the sunset colors reflecting in windows in a picture, so this location made just that for me.

Editing

I post-processed this picture in Lightroom to make it look more like it actually was. Usually the colors does not get as great as they really where, straight out of the camera. And since i dont use a tripod that often i have to sharpen the images afterwords.

In my camera bag

In my bag i usually have as little as i can, because i take most of my pictures while i walk my dog. In my bag this evening i only had my camera and the macro zoom lens: Tamron 18-250mm F3,5-6,3 XR Di II LD for Nikon.

Feedback

The advice i can give is to do a lot of ground work if you want to take a good sunset picture. You have to have a good foreground to make it exciting, use time to walk around where you live, and look out places you think will be good. First of all you have to learn a lot about where and when the sun goes down, at what time of year. And as you watch the sundown a lot of times, you learn what the sky should look like before a magical sunset appears. How the clouds should be and so on. The more clouds, the more dramatic it can be.
