The photo was taken in a park close to my house in London. This was actually my first photo taken with my first DSLR camera. I would like to consider it my starting point as a photographer.Time
It was a beautiful afternoon on a late spring day.The model I worked with is actually my sister. She was just starting her career in modelling and needed a black and white portfolio to be considered for a motorcycle commercial.Lighting
I used only natural light and we had to do some clearing around the wall as it was covered in weeds and overgrone branches, with no light coming through. I didn't want to much light anyway so it worked quite well.Equipment
This was shot with a Nikon D3300 18.0-55.0mm lense f/3.5-5.6 .No other equipment was used.Inspiration
As I had no experience at that time and I was a self starter I just followed my instinct.I'm a big fan of rocknroll and motorcycles and I put myself in the viewer's shoes. What would they like to see?Editing
Looking at this photo just made me realize how much my skills improved since. Was a Jpag file and I had no knowledge of Photoshop. Was no retouching involved, just added a bit of contrast and adjusted the colours on the graffiti wall.In my camera bag
At the moment this is all I have,my Nikon D3300 and a set of prime lenses.I believe a good photographer is not just a set of expensive gear.Feedback
Trying to find a location like this it wouldn't be so difficult. What's difficult is finding a model that's opened to suggestions, listens to your advice, is very comfortable in front of the camera and knows what she's expected to do. Also, considering it's an outdoor photoshoot be ready to kneel on wet grass ,puddles or mud, just because that's the right angle. You might also end up with some scratch marks because you're constantly triping over weeds and broken branches. But this just adds more fun to the whole experience. After all, taking a photo it's more than just pressing a button.
