This was taken at sunset. My 15 year old son and I have a habit of watching the western sky for when it will be a good sunset. If it looks like a colorful one we jump in the car and drive the mile and a half to this boat landing. It never disapoints for amazing sunsets over the water. Once in awhile he even let's me take his picture too!Lighting
I usually under expose my sunset captures, creating a silhouette of the trees while bringing out a better color from the sunset.Equipment
Canon with 55-250mm lens at 55mm. F4, 1/250s, ISO 100.Inspiration
Watching the sunset is so relaxing for us, it's a nice calm end to our day. This particular sunset was fun because I wasn't the only one with camera in hand capturing the sunset. It was great to meet other photographers.Editing
I try not to do any post-processing by experimenting with settings on my camera. I usually end up with a million pictures of the same thing, but one of them is always right. This image required no editing of the original image. This method is by no means fool-proof, but I try to keep the editing to a minimum. I am lucky that the types of pictures I enjoy taking allow for this method. In my camera bag
Camera, variety of filters, variety of lenses, pen and paper, extra SD card.Feedback
I think you just have to be aware f the beauty of your surroundings, no matter what the situation or environment. I know my life is busy and hectic working full time, with 2 kids, and trying to find time for photography. But at the same time photography is my reminder and opportunity to slow down and pay attention to life as it rushes by.
