Behind The Lens
Location
This was taken on Madagascar near the northern tip of the island at the Inn where we were staying. The tortoise is the pet of the inn owner and kept in a large enclosure to keep it from wandering off.Time
This was mid morning as we had just returned from Parc National Montagne D'Ambre.Lighting
Available sunlight with some high cloud.Equipment
At the time I was using a Sony NEX 7 camera with an 18-200mm Tamron lens hand held leaning over the wall of the enclosure to get eye level. ISO 800, 86mm, f10, 1/800 sec.Inspiration
This was a grab shot as I was walking back to my room.Editing
Using Aperture I adjusted highlights and shadows a bit and cropped to 16 x 9 from 3 x 2.In my camera bag
I now use the Sony a6000 because of it's small size and light weight as I have a tear in my right rotator cuff. My go to lens is the Sony/Zeiss 16-70mm f4, I also carry the Sony 10-18mm f4 and the 70-200mm f4 G, and the super sharp Zeiss 24mm f1.8.Feedback
We had just returned from a morning in the jungle of the national park, I was quite tired and almost passed up this shot and forgot to reset the ISO to a lower value for the light, however the camera handled it quite well. Take your time and check all your settings.
