Location
The photo was taken on the South Platte River Trail in Denver, Colorado. I love exploring the city with my cameras (iPhone and Nikon) and really wanted a cityscape photo that I could say was taken by me.Time
My love for photography as therapy brought me out this day. I do, at least, one activity every day that is just for me. I researched different places to capture Denver's cityscape and set out for a 2 mile walk with my cameras. Thanks to the RTD transit system I was able to get to this location with ease on June 15, 2016. This photo was taken at 5:22 pm on that day.Lighting
The sun bouncing off the city and moon amazed me.Equipment
This was taken with my iPhone 6s, f/2.2 and ISO 25. I found this information out via the Google Photos app where I back my photos.Inspiration
I hadn't anticipated capturing the moon this day so when I saw it above the city with no clouds I loved it. Even though there were many others along the trail, I had brief moments of solitude. In those moments, just me and nature, I felt calm and ready to take on the city. That is what I wanted to capture. Every time I look at this photo, I feel that calmness and I remember the moment I raised my arms and captured it all.Editing
I love editing photos and I do something to almost every photo I take whether I keep it later or not. My goal is to bring out a part of the photo that I wouldn't have seen or felt otherwise. With this photo I used an app called Pixlr. The original felt dry to me so I turned up the vibrance and added contrast. Pixlr is one of my favorite apps to use with mobile photography. Not only does it allow me to adjustment elements individually but it also has great fonts, filters, stickers and frames. In my camera bag
This day, I left both tripods at home and was very disappointed. Now I am sure to pack them both (a mini and a standard) along with my Nikon D3200, macro lens, wide angle lens, remote control, a mini lens kit for my phone, journal and pen. On my phone, I keep audiobooks and music loaded. I don't always need these things, but I rather have them and not need them than to need them and not have them.Feedback
I am mostly self taught and one of the most important things I learned from it is to be patient. A tripod would have made my day so much easier to get through but not having it certainly didn't stop me. I learned to use my surroundings, relax and keep an open mind. There was a bench nearby and when it was not occupied, I was able to use it for stability. I also tried different angles until I got one I liked. I focused on my target, both hands outstretched, relaxed my shoulders and breathe. Just breathe.
