Location
The photo was take during a round of World Rally Championship in Sardinia, a beautiful island in Italy. The stage of Championship is organized in 3 days of races, a full immersion of motorsport and nature.Time
This was taken on June of 2016 at 1:00 PM, a very hot moment of the day with 32 degrees celsius and a wall of dust.Lighting
The light was natural without flashes or reflectors. The day was hot but with a thin cloud that filtered the sun, so the result is a soft light with soft whites and reflections, a perfect light in the dust. My distance from the subject was about 20 meters.Equipment
This photo is taken with a Canon EOS 5d MkII with Canon 70-200 f4 L LensInspiration
Any round of World Rally Championship has an acronym or a slogan. The slogan of Italian Round is "Jumping in the dust", for me this photo represent this expression.Editing
Post-processing involved only shadows and lights to make more dusty atmosphere the sceneIn my camera bag
In my bag I have Always two bodies, a Canon EOS 5D mkII as primary body and a Canon EOS55D as secondary machine. Two flashes and triggers, a Manfrotto tripod. Some lenses as fixed focal lens Canon EF40mm, Canon EF70-200 f4 L and Canon EF24-105L. Double batteries for everything oblect in my bag and some skylight and polarized filters. I admit that is very heavy but I prefer some kilogram in my bag and not give up a photo.Feedback
World Rally Championship is a great event that all motorsport photographers can not ignore. All days of the event is very heavy and stressful for photographer, bodies and lenses but adrenaline and the resulting images make it unique! The Championship travels along all continents of the world so anybody can try to live this event!
