Driving through the pan handle of Oklahoma was amazing. You start with fields and fields of flat land then out of nowhere you start seeing the mesa's. During this trip I lead a weekend workshop for astrophotography in the Black Mesa, Kenton, Oklahoma. As I have never been to this location before I showed up one day early to scout several locations out and try to get as much information about the area to make sure the workshop was a great success! We were extremely fortunate to have two clean nights in some of the darkest skies of the South West. The weather and locations were perfect as well as all the participants. To have an amazing group of people come out in the dead of the night in rattlesnake country is something I find amazing. I know I had a great time and enjoyed every moment. We had so many laughs and great times and I look forward to heading out again next year to host another Black Mesa workshop. I must give a huge shout out and thank you to Michelle Wallace-Stoots for having me in her home and helping to organize this successful workshop!!!! With out you this epic trip would not have been possible. It is funny how things work out sometimes. Several years ago I had some amazing friends, I had never met, drive up from Oklahoma to Algonquin Park, Ontario, Canada to join a night workshop. I said to both of them that I promise one day I would come to Oklahoma and lead a workshop in their backyard. I did the research and found a location and the next thing you know I am out in the middle of the desert and having the most amazing time in my life!!! So thank you again Michelle Wallace-Stoots for helping and thank you Tonya, Jane and Martin for coming out to learn from me. I hope you had a great of time and I hope your learned a lot about both photography and astrophotography. You guys taught me so much as well and I look forward to seeing everyone again! :D You all are the best!!! :D
This image here was a capture during the second night of the workshop. Martin helped scout this location along with the owners of the Black Mesa Bed And Breakfast! The B&B is one place I did not want to ever leave. We had pot luck dinners every evening with the workshop and the owners make the most amazing breakfast!!! They sure know how to make you feel at home and a part of the family!
This is called the three sisters and is defiantly amazing to photograph. I usually don't bring out my camera too much until I know all of the participants are setup, focused and already capturing epic images of there own! Once everyone was setup I snapped this 65 image pano of the milky way rising out of the three sisters. The image was captured with the Sony a7s - Rokinon 24mm t1.5 @ f-2. I slowly panned across the sky until the three rows were complete, capturing the arch of the milky way. I only used lightroom to process this image and am extremely happy with the results. The green in the image is some of the amazing airglow which we got to photograph. Amazing time, amazing people and WHAT AN EPIC SOLO ADVENTURE!!!! :D :D :D :D Missing you all already!

Thank you everyone for your support and for enjoying my photography. Feel free to share as I will have many more stories and pictures to come! :D
