I took this in a faux studio that we set up in my living room while I finish a home studio in my basement. It wasn't perfect but it worked for what we needed.Time
In order to accommodate shooting with natural light we had to shoot in the afternoon when there was enough light to fill my living room.Lighting
This beautiful little girl gave me a run for my money! She stayed on the edge of awake and asleep for a really long time. I was working on getting the heat in the room a little warmer so I placed this wrap on her for a minute while I fixed to keep her from getting too cold. Well apparently she liked being warmer because she decided to give me some really great smiles just then. The shot wasn't set up like I would've hoped for but the smile makes up for it. Such a doll.Equipment
I literally shot this with my Nikon, no flash, no lights, no special anything. Just a beautiful baby, the sun, and my Nikon.Inspiration
When shooting newborns you shoot on their schedule so whether you are ready for the shot or not you capture the smiles when they come.Editing
I'm still very new to photography and Photoshop but I did touch this up just slightly. To be honest I accidentally uploaded this picture to view bug and not the edit that I like more???? so this picture has almost no editing. In my camera bag
I have several lenses, my camera, batteries, and a bunch of toys and treats to help make kids smile.Feedback
Often with babies you can tell when they are about to smile. They will breath heavier, roll their eyes around, stuff like that. If you tickle their cheek just a bit or the side of their lip it's pretty often they will give you a little smile. Keep your environment warm, warm, warm.
