Location
This Photo was taken from Portsdown Hill, from where you get a lovely view of Portsmouth towards the Isle of Wight. It was taken in May 2016 and the weather was perfect, and clear. I now live in Italy where every day is a photo opportunity, but I love this photo as it is where I originally come from and is a good view of a city not generally know for being 'pretty'.Time
the photo was taken mid morning - i was in the UK for a few days visiting family, and had been nearby to photograph bluebells in the woods nearby. Driving back to my parents house along the top of the hill i saw the view and had to stop to take the shotLighting
Light was good, mid morning - early summer.Equipment
I used a Nikon D750, with a 300-500 f2.8 lens.Inspiration
Having lived in the area, with parents still there, it is a view I know well, but do not often take much notice off as generally it is cloudy, raining or just not clear. This was the first time I had seen it so clear, and the light seemed to highlight parts of Portsmouth Harbour which I hadnt really noticed beforeEditing
I cropped the photo very slightly, but apart from that no post processingIn my camera bag
In my bag I always have 2 cameras: a nikon D750 , which is a great camera, and a nikon D3200 - again a good camera and useful to have as a backup. Lenses ; my 300-500 f2.8 lens - a great sharp lens. Prime 50mm 1.4 - another great lens,Feedback
every day presents photo opportunities - views like this which you have seem hundreds of times and not paid attention to. Having a fresh look at things in your everyday life is a great way to get great photos close to home, or without having to make a special trip
