Location
I've taken thousands of photos on this pedestrian path. The Fire Dragon Path goes to many places I need to be, subway, library, post office, park, so I'm walking it several times a week. It's great for all types of photography with lots of people, new flowers often, and even an informal dog park at night. My favorite tree is here and sometimes I'll walk this path even if it adds a few minutes to my trek.Time
I hope you can tell from the lights and shadows that this was taken in the dark. It's probably between 10pm and midnight, whenever our time on the karaoke room ran out. Prime date time!Lighting
The path itself is low-lit, but as you can see the street ahead is a bit brighter at night. All make for great silhouette conditions. High ISO, no flash necessary.Equipment
Sony a37 with a 50mm Minolta lens.Inspiration
Alcohol. I promise that's not always the case, but really street photography is intimidating. I was on my way home from a fun night out with friends and less self conscious than usual. It also helps you ignore the people giving you weird looks while you lay down on the ground.Editing
This is one of those rare naturally monochrome photos. JK, but other than that, not much more than sharpening in Lightroom. In my camera bag
I carry only what can fit in a medium sized purse, home I mostly use a 50mm or a Lensbaby (shout out for second hand lenses!). While on a hike or being a tourist far from home, I'm still a fan of my two kit lenses. They are very light, cover a wide range of focal lengths, and you'd never know if I hadn't told you. I sometimes bring a polarizing filter, and rarer still a tripod, but other than that I try to keep it low maintenance.Feedback
Don't underestimate the everyday places you visit. There are infinity photo opportunities in finite places.
