Location
The photo was taken in London at Westminster bridge opposite the Big BenTime
It was daytime, around 3pmLighting
Overcast day with many clouds and not much of sun.Equipment
Sony a7Rii with 24-70 f4 lens, 16 stop formatt-hitech nd filter to smooth the water and catch nicely the slow cloud movementInspiration
Long exposures architectural/landmark shots are my favoriteEditing
I use my own workflow, developed and fine tuned over the past couple of years to boost contrasts and increase the tonality of the image. I mostly use luminosity masks and gradients in photoshopIn my camera bag
In my bag I have the amazing 25mm Zeiss Batis and 24-70 as main lenses. I also use a 70-300 telephoto for architectural details and a fast prime 55mm. An intervalometer for long exposures, many ND filters from 6 to 16 stops, a CPL, a loupe and tape to mask and avoid light leaks in long exposuresFeedback
Be patient with the light because each change affects your long exposure, take many shots. better to use a loupe to view the image on the LCD carefully as many ugly details cannot be seen on the small screen and you might not like the result later. use high quality ND filters, i had many troubles with cheaper filters in the past (colorcasts that cannot be corrected and lack of sharpness). focus your editing to the areas you want to catch the eye, use selective contrasts, selective sharpness and selective saturation in color images
