Behind The Lens

Location

I took this photo at my church. It was raining (obviously ;D) and the leaves were so pretty. I didn't have to set them up or anything, this was how they fell. It's one of those 'natural photos', where God had everything set up for me, and all I had to do was take the picture. :)

Time

I can't remember exactly what time, but I'd guess sometime after 12:00. We always stay to eat after church service.

Lighting

I brightened it in editing.

Equipment

I used a Canon EOS REBEL T3i. F/5.6, exp. 1/250 sec., ISO-1600. The lens I used was my kit lens.

Inspiration

The colors of the leaves, and how glossy they looked drenched with rain. And the water droplets on the concrete...it was all so pretty.

Editing

I did edit this picture, because it was still a little too dark for my liking. I believe I used the editor PicMonkey, which is a 'free' online editor. But if I had taken this photo recently, I would probably have used iPiccy or GIMP. iPiccy is free, but you have to sign up. GIMP is also free, but you have to download it.

In my camera bag

My go-to lens is my 50mm 1.8. It's sharp, light, small, and gets the job done very well. I also use a 55-250mm lens. As I said before, I used my kit lens for this photo, but I would have preferred to use my 50mm. I carry screw-on macro lenses, a cleaning kit, and keep a filter on nearly all of my lenses (I haven't bought one that fits the 50 yet).

Feedback

Well, for a picture like this, you're going to have to be okay getting outside and possibly getting wet, so have someone willing to go outside with you to hold an umbrella. This was around fall, so it was probably chilly outside too. Pictures in the rain can be gorgeous, but difficult to get, so my advice would just be to stay patient, observant, and get prepared ahead of time if you really want to try and capture something beautiful. Oh, and watch out for lightning. :)
