Absolutely wonderful capture. I especially like the way you've caught the lights at red too, I'll bet that's no accident!

If only the streets of Paris or Italy was in the backdrop of this photo. Amazing composition.

Location
This photo was taken in downtown Cullman, Alabama. I shot this photo in part of the historic district.Time
This photo was taken in late May just after sunset.Lighting
I used an AlienBees B800 with a large Octabox. I opted to keep the lighting simple. I wanted an overall vintage look for this session.Equipment
This was shot on a Canon 5D MarkIII with an EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II USM lens, lit with an AlienBees B800 strobe with octabox.Inspiration
I had wanted to do a photo with a black and white dress with red accents for quite some time. I walked in to one of our local boutiques and on the mannequin was this black and white dotted dress with a large hat that had a very Audrey Hepburn feel to it. I told the owner that I must photograph someone in the outfit. Her gorgeous daughter was behind the counter. I asked if she would model for me and she obliged. I set a date/time for the session and asked her to bring red heels and red lipstick. I stopped on the way and picked up the red balloons.Editing
I'm very particular with my editing. On this photo I did remove a few objects that were distracting, including a couple of vehicles. I always adjust highlights and shadows. I did add a texture to this photo to help create the vintage look that I wanted, brushing it off my subject. In my camera bag
I have a rolling Lowepro bag and it stays packed! I carry my Canon 5D MarkIII body along with my 70-200mm lens, a 16 - 35mm lens, and my Sigma 50mm art lens. I have 4 flash units that go with me everywhere, extra batteries and cards, ND filter, light meter, and a few other accessories. My vehicle stays packed with everything from light stands, tripod, softboxes, apple boxes, reflectors and anything else I might need. I only pack my strobes when I specifically know I will or might need them.Feedback
Get out and experiment! I'm always amazed at how the slightest changes can drastically change the look of a photo. I love photographing in low light and will often shoot very late in the day, even after dark. Changing the type of lighting or the type of softbox will give you different results. I'm a firm believer that there is an art to both lighting and posing and experiment often with both. This session was one that I did just for me. Take time away from paid sessions and create art for your own enjoyment.
