I took this photo at an airshow in Long Island, NY. This is a prop from a B-24.Time
This was midday & the sun was not in my favor.Lighting

I wasn't honestly thinking about a "selfie" at all, I thought I could crop the photo & get a good mirrored image of the scene & liked the shadows created by the other props.Editing
I edit everything in Lightroom. This was before I had a DSLr, this was taken with a Sony DSC-H3, perfect pocketed long optical zoom camera. I cropped the photo to take away most of the sky. Edited the white balance. Highlight Recovery & Luminance Smoothing are at 100. I lowered Light Tones to -13, Brightness to -11. Clarity is +72, Black Clipping +3. Temperature +4. Tint -13. The majority of my photos, I prefer to keep close to natural tones as possible. Due to where the sun was, I had to lower the light a lot, in order for the mirrored image to be highlighted. In my camera bag
It's more the camera I have with me. While I love my DSLr, it's a bit bulky to carry around all the time. The two cameras I use frequently are Canon 5D MkII & Google Nexus 6P. My favorite lens is my Canon EF 16-35mm f/2.8L II & 2nd favorite is Canon EF 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6L IS (I love the push-pull versus a twist for long distances)Feedback
Make sure you have a good camera with optical zoom & plenty of megapixels. Don't zoom in too much, you need to be able to crop. The sun's going to be a problem & clouds won't make the reflection as brilliant. Having a good post-processing software will help a lot. Think about what's being captured, if I zoomed solely on myself it wouldn't be interesting at all.
