Behind The Lens

Location

We were visiting my parents in Souris, Prince Edward Island Canada when I took this picture.

Time

I'm a big fan of sunrises and sunsets, and really PEI always has the best and most beautiful! This was taken in the evening around 4pm.

Lighting

I don't do anything fancy to my pics with lighting, no flash, no bells and whistles, I just let the camera do the work. It was exactly what my eyes were seeing and I wanted to capture it on film.

Equipment

This was shot using a Canon Power Shot S2 IS, using the zoom feature to about 47%.

Inspiration

I am inspired by sunrises/sunsets. At the time, my family were all looking out and they said "Oh look at the sky now Debbie", when I saw this I knew I wanted to capture those beautiful colors.

Editing

I don't post-process any of my sky shots. I like the raw look and tend to take many shots at different zooms or angles and pick from those which I like the best.

In my camera bag

I usually carry my macro lens and my telephoto lens with me, although I rarely, if ever, use them. I just let the camera do all the work for me. I absolutely love this Canon Power Shot! Anyone can take beautiful pictures with it!

Feedback

My advice for anyone wanting to capture a beautiful sunset. Just take the pictures, take lots of them. You will find that every picture will be beautiful in its own right. I have yet to take a sunset or sunrise picture that I haven't loved. Take the pictures for yourself, if others like them that's great, but at the very least you will be pleased with your result.
