Location
... this photo was taken in a place called Amingaon in Guwahati Assam India ... by the banks of the River Brahmaputra ... during the winters when the waters run low and the river forms some stretching out beaches and sand banks ..Time
... in the evenings during the winters ...Lighting
this photo was taken in the evening when the sun was about to go down and thus it presented a lovely red colour ... the local fishermen in their wooden fishing dinghies used to get together and plan to lay their fishing nets in the river for the night ... to pick them up with the catch the next morning ... and the photo with the people the boats and setting sun on the water seemed just apt that the local people of India live along the rivers ekking out their living ... indeed a magical moment ... i just waited for that fishermen to come against the reflected sunlight column in the water to give him a better contrast visibility ...Equipment
... Nikon D750 with Tamron 150 - 600 lens on a manfrotto monopod ...Inspiration
... i used to frequent this river bank almost every day to catch photographs of birds or the local fishermen or the shrimp trappers ... and the sunsets ... this day ... waiting there ... the moment presented itself ... the stillness of the riverbank ... almost imperceptible movement of a river .. the static boats ... and the movement of the man ... with the illusion of an enlarged red sun reflecting its light in the water ...Editing
... this was processed for normal brightness contrast and saturation and sharpness in Photoshop CS6 ...In my camera bag
i carry with the Niko D750 body a Nikkor 24-120 lens which suffices for most moments ... but when specifically going for subjects like birds i do carry the Tamron 150-600 with the manfrotto swivel head monopod ...Feedback
... frequenting such river bodies especially during the times of sunrise and sunsets present ample opportunities ... with a higher success rate on birds human activities and life on the river ... under some magical light conditions ... best times however would be during the monsoons when the clouds perfrom a magical medley of colours and shapes in the skies and lend a dramatic and ethereal touch to the whole scene ...
