The expression on this bird is so funnny and makes me smile. Snapped at Malibu Lagoon State Park near sunset with Sony A6300 and SEL55210 lens

At the zoo, couldn't help but feel as though he was looking through me

Used extension tubes attached to my Sony 50mm lens to capture this as the sun was setting

So lucky with this shot....during an overcast day, running water, but the egret stayed still.

I visited Driftwood beach during the day and knew I had to come back at sunrise. Sunset wasn't an option as this beach faces east on Jekyll Islan

Took this long exposure and the flowers in the foreground really add to the sleepiness-dreaminess of this picture.

I wasn’t sure if this cormorant was going to be able to get his lunch down.

I took this picture on a hike and this flower just seemed to be opened up all the way to get as much of the spring warmth as possible.

While on Jekyll Island in Georgia for sunrise, I was amazed to see the clouds, the color and this shrimp boat tugging along through my frame.

Location

I took this photo in my neighbor's front lawn

Time

This was just after the last sunlight disappeared over the horizon.

Lighting

It was all fast disappearing natural light.

Equipment

I was testing some newly purchased extension tubes with my Sony A6300 and Sony 50mm prime lens.

Inspiration

I wanted to see the difference a macro lens configuration would make...the idea of seeing something obvious and ordinary but in an unusual and different perspective.

Editing

Slightly....basically just crop and vignette.

In my camera bag

I always take my Sony A6300, Sony 50mm prime, Sony 55-210mm zoom, extra batteries and a ND8 filter.

Feedback

Lightning is key when shooting macro. Your DoF is really shallow and you want to get that sliver of focus just right. Blurring the background really helps bring your main subject in focus and allows the viewer to find the shot you were going for.
