A kalesa or karitela is a mode of transportation using a calash drawn by a horse. It was introduced by the Spaniards when they ruled the Philippines in 18th century; however, it was commonly used by people from the 'upper class', not for everyone. Nowadays, anyone can use the ride; but, it is only available in older cities like Manila, Cebu, and a few rural places in the Philippines.
