Location
Photo was taken in my home studio, which I use Buff lighting systems and a professional back-drop.Time
This was scheduled as an afternoon photo shoot with Alix and her friend Rika, both young women that are building their personal portfolio's. Each brought several outfits and some were presented to show their best features and some extensive body tattoo's.Lighting
I used lighting to accent the colors of the background, and the models features, making sure not to over expose her skin or her hair. A rear light was used to accent her beautiful hair, an octagon light for the main and a rectangular light cover for fill.Equipment
Canon 5DMIII, Canon EF 24-70mm, 12.8 L II USM, Manfrotto tripod, Buff Einstein 640 flash.Inspiration
Alix is one of my regular models, and we are building her portfolio as a joint project. She does not charge for her modeling and I do not charge for my photography skills and equipment. When we sell a photo, the money is split 50/50. Alix was a college cheerleader, gymnastics, and dancer. We've known each other for a few years and have done a few modeling shoots over the past year.Editing
Lightroom for shadows, highlights, white, blacks and minor presence. Face had some softening using the effects brush. In my camera bag
I always have Canon 5DMIII, 70D, and 60D, several lenses from canon 70-200 and 24-70 as go to lenses, ND filters (circular with 10 stops), Canon 580EFII flashes (3) with Gary Fong covers and diffusers. I'm primarily an entertainment photographer at the local casino's and other event centers, having photographed the likes of The Beach Boys, Rick Springfield, Joan Jett, Pat Benatar, Sam Hunt, Kevin Costner, BB King, Davy Jones, Shanana, Greg Allman, and many more.Feedback
Every few photos, stop and show the model what you did, the angle and lighting that worked, and give suggestions to improve. In this case, we had her leaning forward and to the side instead of the typical "S" pose. The idea with the yellow jacket was to show a little, but not expose her full nakedness, thus making the viewer imagine what might be underneath.
